Pretty Boy Tony!

I brought Trinity out last evening for a photo while another baby was baking. I am really falling for him! I named him "Tony Carlo", lol. I have no idea where that name came from, but I like it!

Like I mentioned in the last post about him, I thickened his eyebrows. I really can't wait to finish this little guy! I doubt I will go with the afro kinky human hair now that he is a boy.

Le Top definitely ranks as one of my absolute favorite boutique brands for newborn and preemie sizes. This may be old news to you, but Le Top has a new website. Take a peek, it is beyond gorgeous! The blog is filled with fun and goodies and well. Have fun!

Luna Luna Copenhagen Tutu Bloomers & Tee - $88.00

My baby clothing collection will never be bland as long as Luna Luna Copenhagen is around! Heidi never ceases to amaze me with her flawless designs! I have not ordered this delicious ensemble yet, but only because I am trying to decide what size to order, hehe! Every doll I own that fits size 3-6M is already dressed for spring/summer, and I no longer have any larger female reborns in progress.

FYI, if anyone has a Neiman Marcus outlet in their area, the Luna Luna Copenhagen lounge sets from last year are on clearance! I was able to snag two for my goddaughter for only $10 each.

New Kit: Beau by Jannie de Lange

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Baby Beau = perfectly adorable! Another must have kit from the talented Jannie de Lange and Real Effect. I have said it before and I will say it again: Jannie has been one of my favorite sculptors since 2002. Not only are her babies’ faces highly detailed and super realistic, but their limbs are as well. That earns a sculptor a lot of points in my book. :-) Please don't get me wrong, I have tons of respect for every sculptor out there, but the kits that catch my eye most have both realistic faces and limbs.

I can’t wait to get this kit! I love his chubby face! I have so many kits here that are begging for ethnic makeovers, but I love this one so much, I may bump him to the top of the list. *wink*

Updates on Shyann coming soon. I finished her base layers and her creases. Yippee!

Gund Baby!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

I cut back on my stuffed animal habit long ago, but these toys by Gund are irresistable! I wanted to order all of the animals in this picture, but I only checked out with the pink horse, Pinkaboo and this tiny musical lamb:

I had a similar musical lamb for many years until my daughter (then two years-old) decided the lamb "wanted to go swimming" and dunked him into the dogs' water bowl, lol! Needless to say, the lamb did not feel like singing anymore. :-) I am so glad I was able to find another.

I hope I can get all of these animals someday. They are pretty pricey, but well worth it I am sure. Pinkaboo will make a nice prop!

Product Review: Sansodor™

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

I know many of you are wondering “What the heck is Sansodor™??” LOL

Sansodor™ by Winsor & Newton™ is a low odor solvent that I use to reborn dolls. Specifically, I use Sansodor™ to thin my Genesis Heat-Set paints.

When I was first introduced to Genesis Paints in 2005, I needed a paint thinner with slow evaporation time. Every low odor solvent I tested evaporated in less than one minute, which is hardly enough time for me to smooth and blend my paints onto the vinyl pieces.

I finally tried Sansodor™ and fell in love! Sansodor™ takes approximately six minutes to fully evaporate and that gives me plenty of time to smooth the paint with cosmetics wedges. The largest size bottle (one liter) lasts me through approximately 10 newborn-sized dolls.

I store my Sansodor™ in a temperature controlled room inside of a locked cabinet and it stays fresh. The odor is indeed low and easy for me to tolerate. When Sansodor™ is baked in the oven; the fumes are strong and smelly. For that reason, I prefer to bake vinyl parts outdoors.

Say goodbye to chalky-looking dolls forever!

Pro: Slow evaporation time which makes the task of blending paint a breeze
Con: Strong odor when baked in oven
Price: $19 - $30 for a one liter bottle

Would I purchase this product again: Yes

Shopping Spree Baby Phat Style!

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

My daughter is due for a spring wardrobe and Baby Phat was the first website of choice. I did not find anything for my daughter, so why did I venture off to the baby department, lol?

I know I did not need any of these things, but I couldn’t help myself. I was determined to spend $75 just to get the Baby Phat logo necklace (I love that cat!). After I checked out, I realized I could have simply found a logo necklace on eBay for a fraction of what I spent last night. Darn those advertisements, lol! They really do work...well, maybe on impulse buyers like myself. :-)

I am looking forward to getting this fun package. I am planning to use the bottles as props. I have not made a faux milk bottle in years.

From left to right: Printed Coral Fleece Blanket - $25.60 SALE, 2 Pacifier and Clip Set- $16.00 SALE, 4 PC Bottle Set- $22.80 SALE, Printed Sleep n Play w/ Hood & Bib Set - $18.00, 2 PC Sculpted Velour Tunic & Legging Set - $24.98 SALE

Update:
It looks like I won't get the necklace after all. :-( The offer is only valid with purchases from the Girls department, lol. Serves me right for skimming and clicking like a crazy person. Oh well, I still love everything I ordered!

Oops!

I have received speculative emails from readers guessing at which celebrity family I am working with. I am sorry, but I was asked not to say. I was also asked not to give details about the family on the blog.

I am an enthusiastic blogger. I love to write (and talk) about the dolly portion of my life. On March 6, I got a tad carried away and posted too much information about the celebrity family here and for that, I do apologize.

I have decided it is best not to write anything else about the portrait orders. Not only is it unfair to the family’s privacy if I get carried away again, but it is also unfair to my blog readers. I do not want it to seem like I am teasing anyone with the tidbits I provide because I certainly am not. I am just sharing news relevant to my work while simultaneously trying to respect the family’s request for anonymity.

That having been said, the post from March 6 has been removed. I am not angry with anyone for guessing, so please don’t think I am. This is all very new for me and I am learning as I go along. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Update on Eyes

Sunday, March 07, 2010

Hi everyone! This post is an update to this post. I received a few questions about eyes last week. I am sorry for taking so long to respond. I have not placed any orders for eyes yet, but Jayne Seddon of Tinkerbell Creations (UK) told me that her chocolate blown glass eyes are dark onyx brown like I want. She also said her eyes have the larger iris. I am not interested in the larger iris at this time, but I will keep Jayne in mind for the future. I will post a review of the eyes if I decide to order them.

Bountiful Baby's item #2455 (609 from KL Glausagen) are apparently "so very dark. You can't really see the pupil unless you look very closely. " Those sound like what I want but Bountiful Baby only sells 18mm and I need 22mm. Bountiful Baby told me they do not plan to restock any time soon.

I am planning to order the 700 series 609's directly from Tohickon Glass Eyes once my schedule calms down next weekend. I also like Eyeco's polymer dark oriental eyes. They are very dark brown, very shiny, and very beautiful! Bountiful Baby sells them. HTH!

Update: Monday, March 29, 2010

I placed the order a while ago..sorry I forgot to update! Delivery will be 3-4 weeks because they come from overseas. :-( I will post a review the second they arrive.

Xoxo,
BN

Hanna Anderson Flutter Sleeve Romper - $24.00

Eye candy at Nordstrom! I love this little number by Hanna Andersson. Pink and green together is my favorite! I am concerned about the sizing which is why I did not click the checkout button. The sizing chart says that 0-3M will fit up to 50cm (19.68 inches) so I may take the plunge and order out of curiousity. It is just too sweet!

This outfit by Little Me is also sweet! Unfortunately, the style will not work for any of my dolls. Too bad!

Little Me Bow Trim Romper - $20.00

Painting Service: Officially Discontinued

Monday, March 01, 2010

I made a post last summer about the painting service waiting list being deleted.

I did not hear back from many of the ladies, so I discontinued the painting service December 14, 2009. When I mentioned here on the blog that I was painting a kit for a customer, hurt feelings began to surface. Since I am unable to be helpful to everyone, the best thing is for me to just not paint kits for anyone. I wish I could help everyone, but my busy schedule only permits me to work on a few dolly projects per year.

Thank you all so much for the emails and PM’s. Special thanks to L & D for their experienced advice regarding this situation.
